Guide
Quickstart
Open your beta invite, find your products, and see where they're out of stock, in about five minutes.
Availability Brands in the free beta
1. Open your invite#
- Open the invite link we sent you. It's a private link for your brand, it works once, and it lapses after 14 days.
- Enter your work email.
- Open the email we send you and click the link. There's no password. The link works once, for 15 minutes.
Already set up? Sign in at app.cannonballdata.com/sign-in with the same email. See The free beta.
2. Tell us your brand#
- Under What's your brand?, type your brand as it's printed on the pack.
- Choose your brand from the list. Each one shows how many products we found for it. Brands match on whole words, so "Eta" finds Eta, not Cetaphil.
Under the box, a line says which chains we read today, such as "Today we read Coles, Woolworths, IGA and ALDI in Australia.", and any chain that starts soon, with its date.
If colleagues at your company already use Cannonball, you're offered their brand instead, with Ask to join. An admin there lets you in. See Invites and joining.
3. Tick your products#
We list every product we found for the brand, at every chain we cover, all ticked. A product sold at three chains is one product with three listings, and the page says how many listings that is. We also suggest up to two rivals for each of your products: other brands of the same kind and pack size, at a similar price.
- Untick anything that isn't yours.
- Click the button to go on, such as Show me where.
You land on your product with the most stores out of stock right now. If nothing of yours is out, you land on your most widely sold product instead.

4. See which stores#
- If the product is out of stock somewhere, click See which stores.
That's the Stores list for that product, filtered to stores where it's been out of stock for two days or more, longest first. Two days is the line between a real gap on the shelf and a normal day's sell-through. See Out of stock 2+ days.
5. Get an email when it happens#
- On the product page, click Alert me.
- Keep the suggested rule, or change the number of stores.
- Click Set alert.
When the rule fires, you get one email, never one per store; what fires overnight comes in the 7:00 email. To cover every product at once, and your rivals, use the three one-click rules on the Alerts page. See Alerts.
6. Send it to your rep or KAM#
- On the product page, click Send to a colleague.
- Enter their email and click Send.
They get one email. When they sign in, they land on the same product. Someone new joins your team, so it uses a seat: on Solo, with 1 seat, there's none to spare. See Team and roles.
7. Ask your next question#
- Press ⌘/Ctrl then K, or click the search bar.
- Type a question, such as "out of stock in NSW" or "Coles promos this week".
The first result answers it in one line. Choose it to open the stores or changes behind the answer. For a chart or a table, choose Ask. See Search and quick answers and Ask.
What to do next#
- Add the rivals you compete with. See Choose your products and rivals.
- Open Home each morning. It lists only what changed on your shelf and your rivals'. A quiet Home is good news.
- Read Key ideas to see what "ranged", "in stock" and "national" mean here.
- Follow a guide for a real job, such as Prepare for a range review.
