MenuPrice out of line by state

    Guide

Find where your price is out of line by state

Compare your shelf price state by state, against a rival and the store brand, to see where you're dearer.

Availability Every plan. CSV export on Brand and up.

    1. Check where the price moves#

On Home and in What changed, each price change says where it happened. "Price up at Coles: $4.20 → $4.60 (+10%)" with "QLD, WA, SA" means those states moved and the rest didn't. Repeated regional changes are the first sign a state is priced differently.

    2. See the price at each store#

    1. Open your product, and click Stores.
    2. Choose the state, one at a time.

The Price column shows the shelf price at each store.

    3. Compare all states at once#

    1. On the same list, set the state back to all states.
    2. Click Export, then CSV: stores.
    3. In your spreadsheet, take the median of Price by State. The app's prices are medians too.

Do the same for the rival and the store brand, from their own product pages, and put the three side by side.

    What to watch for#

    • The price includes promotions on the day. Compare on a day none of the three is on promo, or note which is.
    • Prices are per pack. If the packs differ in size, compare per kilogram yourself: the app doesn't show unit prices yet.
    • Coles, Woolworths and ALDI price by zone: each store has its zone's price, and the page says so once. Elsewhere, a store marked inferred wasn't read there directly. In the CSV, the Source column says which. See Observed and inferred numbers.
    • Some chains price the same everywhere, or by state, such as Chemist Warehouse and Liquorland from 10 October. Their product page says so. See Chains and coverage.
