Launch tracker
A new product's rollout at a chain, day by day: stores ranging it and by state, the first day it was priced and on promo, stock, and rival launches in its category, against the target you set.
Availability Every plan. Rival launches on Growth and up. CSV export on Brand and up.

Open it from Products (Launch tracker). Each launch is one product of yours at one chain.
Which products#
- Found on its own: a product of yours that arrives at Coles shows here from its first day, for 26 weeks. We read Coles' whole range every day, so a product we first see there after we started reading it is new on the shelf, not just new to us.
- Tracked by hand: any other product of yours, at any chain, under Track a launch. Give it its Launch day: the weeks, and any target, count from it. Without one it's tracked from the first day we show, with no weeks.
Re-listed, not launched#
Coles sometimes lists a product it already sells under a new code: the same product renamed, or the same product in a new size. That isn't a launch, so it isn't found on its own. It's listed under Re-listed, not launched for the same 26 weeks, with what it replaced, such as "It replaced BBQ Trays (1451661), last priced on Sat 10 Oct." or "A new size (was 750mL): it replaced Raspberry Ice Cream Splits 10 Pack …".
A new code counts as a re-listing when an older listing at the same chain, of the same brand, stopped selling (it has no price on our latest day) and had its last price within 7 days of the new code's first day, and the two are the same product:
- the same pack size, and the same name or, when the shorter name has 2 words or more, all its words in the longer ("Greek Style Yoghurt" for "Greek Style Natural Yoghurt"); or
- the same words in the name (whatever the case, punctuation or order) in a new size measured the same way (680 mL for 750 mL, a 15 pack for a 20 pack).
A flavour or colour swap ("Pink" for "White") is a new product. Arriving at nearly every store on day one isn't a sign either way: many new Coles lines arrive at almost every store at once. If a re-listing really is a launch for you, track it by hand under Track a launch. Re-listings are left out of rival launches too.
Stop tracking takes a launch off. One we found on its own moves to Not tracked, with Track again to bring it back. One you track by hand is forgotten, and goes back to the list under Track a launch.
What each launch shows#
- One line on where it stands, such as "New at Coles on Tue 6 Oct 2026: 700 of the 869 stores we read in week 2". Week 1 is the launch day and the 6 days after it.
- First on a shelf: the first day a store we read ranged it, and how many.
- Most stores, and the day it got there.
- First priced and First on promo: the first day it had a shelf price, and the first day it was on promo, with how many stores.
- In stock now: the share of the stores whose stock we read that have it on the shelf, where the chain's stock is read store by store.
- A chart of the stores ranging it each day, against the stores we read, with your target as a line. Show as table gives the same numbers.
- A row a week: stores ranging it, in stock, stores on promo and the shelf price at the end of each week.
- By state: stores ranging it now, out of the stores we read there, and at the end of week 1.
Rival launches#
Rival launches in its category: other brands' new products at the same chain, from 4 weeks before your launch, the newest first, with how many stores range each now. A brand with nothing else in the category before says so ("new brand in the category"), and a rival you already watch says "on your list". These are read at Coles, where we read the whole range every day. Six are listed; the rest are on New in your categories. A store brand's launch says "store brand".
Rival launches are on Growth and up, as New in your categories is. On other plans the launch says where to get them.
Your target#
Set Target stores and By week, such as 800 stores by week 6, then Save. The launch then says where it stands:
| Status | When |
|---|---|
| Target reached | It was ranged at that many stores on a day. If that was after the target's week, the line says so. |
| On track | Still inside the target's weeks, and at or above a steady climb from 0 on the launch day to the target on its last day. |
| Behind target | Still inside the target's weeks, and under that steady climb. It says how many stores are left to go and in how many days. |
| Target missed | The weeks are over and it hasn't got there yet. It says where it was at the end, and where it is now. |
A target needs a launch day (ours, for one found on its own) and a chain that shows ranging at every store: stores 1 to 10,000, weeks 1 to 52. Your whole team sees the same targets.
Use it to#
- On a launch, set the target your buyer agreed, such as 800 Coles stores by week 6.
- Each week, check the status, then By state for where it's thin.
- Take it to the buyer meeting: the buyer meeting pack has a Launches slide when one of yours launched in its days.
- Watch the rival launches in the category, and set an alert on any you want to follow.
Export#
Export, then Launches day by day (CSV): one row per launch and day, with the week, stores ranging it, stores read, your target, in stock (and the stores whose stock was read), stores on promo and the median shelf price. A number a chain doesn't read says Not read here; a launch with no launch day says "Before our data".
What it can't tell you#
- Stores are counted only at chains that show ranging at every store. Woolworths and ALDI show it at a sample of stores, so a launch there has its price and promos but no store count or stock. Chemist Warehouse and Mitre 10 NZ don't show ranging at all. Bunnings runs no promos, so First on promo says No promos here.
- Stock is left out where a chain lists only what a store sells (IGA, New World, PAK'nSAVE): an empty shelf can't be seen there.
- New products are found on their own at Coles only. Elsewhere, track them by hand.
- A seasonal line back under a code Coles used before we started reading it (late September 2026) shows as a launch this time round.
- A new code whose name adds a word to the old one ("Chocolate Biscuits Mint" after "Chocolate Biscuits") counts as a re-listing, even if it's a new flavour.
- Before our data for a chain starts, or your plan's history, there's nothing to show: the launch starts on the first day shown, and a first on that day says "(first day shown)".
- The tracker holds settings for up to 200 of your products. When it's full, stop tracking one to add another.
