Cannonball for bottle shops · stores.cannonballdata.com

See the chain prices near your shop, every week.

Cannonball puts your lines next to the Dan Murphy’s, BWS and Liquorland stores around you: where they’re cheaper, where you are, what they’ve got on promo this week, and what’s out of stock down the road. First Choice, Vintage Cellars and licensed ALDI stores are on your map too.

An example

Monday morning at Riverbend Cellars

Riverbend Cellars is a made-up shop in a made-up Melbourne suburb; the numbers are made up to show what you’d see. Your own come from your lines and the chain stores near you.

Of your 412 lines, 63 are cheaper at a chain store near you and 41 are dearer there. 18 are on a chain promo this week, 9 of the area’s top 50 sellers aren’t on your shelf, and the Liquorland down the road is out of 6 lines you stock.

Chain prices are read from their public websites. Liquorland prices are state-wide. First Choice and Vintage Cellars publish no prices online, so we don’t guess them. A multibuy shows what one costs on the deal.

The chain liquor stores near you, and only those

We start at 3 km and widen until there’s at least one of each. Every price says which store it’s from and the day we read it.

Questions from shop owners

The data promise

Shop terms

What does it cost?

$99 a month per store for the price comparison, or $49 a month when you share your till sales (pooled with 5+ shops, never shown as yours). 14-day free trial, no card. Extra stores $69 a month, or $29 when you share your till sales. Founding shops: the first 50 shops to share their till sales get their first 3 months free. Prices are Australian dollars, excluding GST.

What happens to my sales data?

Only what you choose to share, and only if you tick the box first. Your weekly sales by product are pooled with at least 4 other shops into market totals that Cannonball sells to drinks brands. No shop is ever more than a quarter of any figure. Brands, other shops, your banner group and the chains never see your shop's numbers, and we never sell to Endeavour, Coles, ALDI, Metcash, LMG, ILG or any banner group. Stop any time: we delete your raw sales straight away (backup copies age out within 30 days) and leave you out of every new report. Figures already delivered to brands before you left can't be recalled, but they never showed your shop. The data promise has it all on one page.

Do I have to share my till sales?

No. The $99 comparison works without it, and stays a real option. Sharing lowers the price to $49 a month when you share your till sales (pooled with 5+ shops, never shown as yours), and adds lost sales, chain-promo impact, a price check on your own top sellers, and sales benchmarks against similar shops in your state.

Which stores do you compare me with?

The chain liquor stores near you: Dan Murphy's, BWS, Liquorland, First Choice, Vintage Cellars, and ALDI only where the store is licensed to sell liquor (New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT and Western Australia). We start at 3 km and widen until there's at least one of each. Coles and Woolworths supermarkets are never counted as liquor stores.

Where do the chain prices come from?

From the chains' own public websites, with the day we read them next to every price. Dan Murphy's and BWS show a price per store. Liquorland shows one price for the state, and we label it that way. First Choice and Vintage Cellars publish no prices online, so we don't show a price for them. Multibuys are counted at what you'd actually pay for one.

Can other shops see my prices?

No. Nobody sees another independent's prices, ever: not in the app, an export or an email. You see the chains' public prices and your own.

Will it tell me what to charge?

No. It shows you where you stand against the chains' public prices. What you charge is your call.

Does it work for my shop?

If you're a Cellarbrations, The Bottle-O or Porters store with an online catalogue, we read your lines for you. Any other shop picks its lines from the area's best-sellers in a few minutes, prices optional.

Who runs Cannonball for bottle shops?

It's run by Cannonball, an Australian company being registered, which also runs a market-data service for drinks brands. Drinks brands buy the pooled totals, which is why the till-sales price is lower.
